ZBRUSH

African Mask

This Kenyan-inspired mask was created as a playful exploration of bold form, carved detail, and expressive character in ZBrush for iPad. Textured in Adobe Substance 3D Painter and rendered in Cinema 4D with Redshift, the final piece combines a handcrafted feel with a polished, contemporary presentation.

African Mask

This Kenyan-inspired mask began as a personal study in pushing form, texture, and character within ZBrush for iPad. I focused on creating a bold silhouette, exaggerated carved features, and a strong sense of handcrafted personality, treating the piece as both a sculpting exercise and an opportunity to explore a more expressive visual style.

The mask was textured in Adobe Substance 3D Painter, where layered color, worn edges, and subtle surface variation helped bring the sculpt to life. I then rendered the final piece in Cinema 4D with Redshift using an ACES color-managed workflow, balancing dramatic lighting with a playful sense of character and giving the finished mask a polished, tactile presence.
